Summary of Gifu PrefectureGifu Prefecture still has it's beautiful environment.From olden times this area was called Hizan Nohsui (the mountains of Hida to the north and the rivers of Mino to the south). The Chubu Sangaku and the Hakusan national parks are in the Hida region while the Hida-Kisogawa and the Ibi-Sekigahara quasi-national parks are in the Mino region. The Hida Takayama Mountain Festival and the Nagaragawa Cormorant Fishing are representative events of these two regions. Gifu Prefecture also has beautiful waterfalls, lakes, and valleys designated as prefectural parks. It also has many hotsprings as well as historical and cultural assets. The events and festivals of this area are unique. |
