The Izu Peninsula belongs to the Mt. Fuji-san volcanic chain, and there are many hot springs located here. In fact, Izu is the second largest hot spring district in Japan. There are 788 points from which spring water flows at a combined rate of 35,000 liters per minute. The Matsukawa Trail offers a very relaxing walking experience. In Izu Kogen Heights there are many pretty cottages and unique museums which are popular among the ladies. If you are looking for one of Ito's specialties to bring back home with you, you might want to see about picking up some Japanese tangerines, tea or even dried sea foods from the neighboring sea.
