The Japan Museum of SkiingThe nation's only museum dedicated to skiing. From the single-pole skiing in the Meiji (1868 - 1912) and Taisho (1912 - 1945) period to the current methods, the historic changes of the sport can be observed at this museum. Personal ski items of Hannes Schneider, the Austrian man known as the Father of Skiing for introducing modern ski to Nozawa, are disclosed at the museum. The Oborozukiyo Manor (Hanzan Bunko)Takano Tatsuyuki, who wrote the lyrics to popular Japanese folk songs such as Oborozukiyo and Furusato, was a Japanese language and literature scholar. Takano died in his second home in Nozawa Onsen which is adjacent to the city of Toyota where he was born. Hanzan is Takano's pen name and Hanzan Bunko is a replica of his den.
