Chestnuts and chestnuts sweet snacks
Obuse is famous for chestnuts. The high quality of the product, which used to be presented to the Shogun family in the Yedo period (1603 - 1867), has not changed to this day. The variety of products made from chestnuts ranges from steam rice with red beans and whole chestnuts, mashed chestnuts, rice-flour cake with chestnut flavor, a fine sweet paste of chestnuts, sweet bean paste with chestnut flavor, to mashed sweet potatoes with sweetened chestnuts.
Apples
"Fuji" is the kind of apples mainly grown in apple gardens in the suburbs. Apples, the second major produce in Obuse, following chestnuts, are utilized for processed products such as 100 percent juice and apple wine.
Obuse eggplants
The round shape is characteristic of Obuse eggplants. It has a rich taste and isn't bitter. Although boiling, grilling, and steaming are all good for this tasty vegetable, you must try grilled Obuse eggplant, which has a special homemade taste.
