Chikufu-do Chikufu-do
This is a long established store selling sweet snacks made from chestnuts. The first floor is a store, while there is a dining space on the second floor. One of its popular item is the Yamaga set menu, containing steamed rice with red beans and chestnuts, sweet boiled rainbow trout, wild plants, and apple wine. They also have a variety of deserts such as boiled peas with honey and bean jam served with chestnut, and chestnut ice creams.

Obuse-do
This is a store specializing in chestnuts, located next to Takai Kozan Memorial Hall, Yuzen-ro (Kozan's study). The building, which used to be a warehouse, provides a cozy atmosphere. Tea lunch with chestnuts as an ingredient as well as Obuse-do's specialty, kuri-kanoko (sweet bean snack with a chestnut flavor) and ice cream with chestnut paste are served.

Sampu-ro/ Hekii-ken Sampu-ro/ Hekii-ken
The building has a Japanese style exterior while the inside is a spacious Western restaurant and a cafe (Sampu-ro). For a break after visiting museums, how about stopping by for a tea and chestnut desert? The place is run by Obuse-do (see above), and the taste of their food is guaranteed. If you are looking for a relaxing place at night, the fancy cocktail bar (Hekii-ken) on the second floor is recommended.

Senseki-tei Sakurai-kansei-do Main Store/ Senseki-tei
Senseki-tei is managed by Sakurai-kansei-do, which is the originator of rice-flour cake with chestnut flavor. Here, visitors can enjoy dinner while looking at their Japanese garden. The combination of steamed rice with red beans and chestnuts, home-made soba noodles, and tempura (Kansei-do Gozen) is a popular item on the menu. On the site, there is Kurino-ki Museum, whose building was refurbished from an old warehouse.

Obuse Highway Oasis
This is located in a rest area which is accessible both from Joetsu Jidosha-do (highway) and the city street. Obuse Highway Oasis, known as a base point for drivers, serves Japanese lunch, noodles, Western lunch, Chinese, as well as fast food. In addition, there is a souvenir shop on the site.

Twell
The fresh taste of the ice cream using local apples, peaches, and grapes is only available in Obuse, a kingdom of fruits. Also their ice cream using fresh milk produced at a nearby ranch is exquisite.

Aji-no-bunkachaya
Located at the entrance of Gansho-in Temple, they serve oyaki, or Obuse eggplants, wild plant pickles, and dried strips of radish cooked in a pancake style. This is a place to enjoy Shinshu's (present day Nagano) traditional taste. Also 100 percent fresh apple juice and chestnuts sweet snacks are available.
