This art craft's (officially designated by the Minister of MITI) characteristics are its sensitive and elegant line, which is created by assembling some thin bamboo pieces. The manufacturing process, from scraping the bamboo into thin sticks to assembling, is done manually only using simple tools.

Tako-hachi

Traditional kite production has passed down to the present shop owner and the fourth generation, Kato Asako, since the store was founded. This kite itself originates about 400 years ago. Ms. Kato maintains the unique characteristics of the kite, such as its unusual shape and the colorful illustrations of warriors as well as kabuki pictures in her creative process.
