Kuno-zan Tosho-gu Shrine, a beautiful contrast of a splendid shrine in the quiet brown color of old mountain trees

Tokugawa Ieyasu died in 1616 at Sunpu-jo Castle. His remains are buried in accordance with his will. The building of the Gongen-zukuri (a shrine architectural style, in which a stone chamber is located between the main shrine and the oratory) has been designated as an important cultural property by the government. The brilliant coloring, finished with lacquer, of the sanctuary has been maintained in the original condition.
Admission: Adults 350 yen / Open 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. (9 a.m. - 4 p.m., October - March)

Tokiwa Park

Tokiwa Park, enjoy the combination of dreamy sounds and light

This recreational park is located at the far end of the Aoba Symbol Road. The central fountain is illuminated at night to play a water dance along with the music.
Special Show starts at 7 p.m., 8 p.m., 9 p.m., and 10 p.m. (Between October and March, it starts at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m., and 9 p.m.)

Sunpu Park, situated at the Sunpu-jo Castle site

The park is established at the remains of Sunpu-jo Castle, built by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1585. The reconstructed Tatsumi-yagura (a watch dog tower) and Higashi-gomon (the east gate) represent the feel of the Yedo period(1603 - 1867). There is a natural monument, a mandarin orange tree, which was planted by Ieyasu (the first Shogun in the Yedo period) himself.
Admission: Adults 200 yen / Open 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., closed on Mondays (if Monday is a national holiday, the following day is closed instead)

Abe Waterfall

Abe Waterfall, a grand fall deep in the mountain

The fall has been chosen as one of a hundred greatest falls in Japan. It is accessible from Ume-ga-shima Onsen hot spring resort through the esplanade where you can enjoy a nice walk among the fresh green trees in spring and red and yellow leaves in autumn.

2-hrs. bus ride from Shizuoka Station.

Nihon-daira Plateau, a dynamic panorama view

This plateau is located between Shizuoka-shi and Shimizu-shi, the 308 meters above sea level where you can see the magnificent view of Mt. Fuji and the Southern Japan Alps from the top. Looking down from the ropeway, heading to Kuno-zan Tosho-gu Shrine, the cliff of Byobu-dani Valley spreads before your eyes.
