Nakahara Chuuya, A Poet from Yuda Hot Spring
Nakahara Chuuya, an influential figure in the prewar Japanese literary world, was born in 1907 in Yuda Hot Spring as the son of a military doctor. He began to show literary talent from his high school days and he continued to write poetry until his death at the early age of 30. But it was not until after his death that his talent was really recognized by the public. His representative works, "Song of a Goat" and "Song of the Days Gone By," have also been published abroad. A memorial museum and a monument stand in Yuda Hot Spring, attracting many visitors to the fantasy world of Nakahara. |
