Hakodate Beer
Opened in December, 1996, this is the first outlet serving Hakodate's local beer. The brick building contributes to a cozy atmosphere, and the beer made with Mt. Hakodate-yama's spring water boasts its superb taste. The freshly brewed local beer features three labels. On the second floor is a Beer Gallery where history of brews is chronicled. Try their unique Beer Ice Cream.

Beelong's
A beer restaurant with a view of the port. The place has been the talk of the town since its opening in April of 1997. Beelong's is a fish bowl style restaurant located in the Seaport Plaza which is set up on the remains of the pier that served the Seikan shuttle boat Mashu-maru. The vessel is now displayed as a memorial ship. The restaurant features original beer, a menu filled with Hakodate's abundant seafood, and cool sea breeze.

Goto-ken Head Store
Established in 1879, this restaurant has a history of long-standing. The name is known throughout the nation, and their traditional dishes are still alive. The course menu is fulfilling, but the curry and hashed beef on rice which have stayed on the menu since establishment are definitely worth a try. The Duck Curry Set ( with salad and coffee) is only 1,700 yen. Open everyday 11:00 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Raymond House Motomachi
Carl W. Raymond has been making ham and sausages completely free of preservatives and additives in Hakodate. In addition to purchasing these delights, you can sample sausages and sandwiches at the store cafeteria. The sausages which are cooked on site after they are ordered burst in your mouth as you bite into them. Open everyday 11:00 a.m. - 6 p.m.
