Ishihara Yujiro (1934-1987) Memorial Museum

The famous actor's museum was opened in July 1991 and is a relatively new tourist spot. You can see his movies and television shows as well as listen to his records. His souvenirs are also displayed. Ishihara Yujiro spent his boyhood days in this city, together with his famous writer-politician brother, Shintaro. You can use the tea lounge and the gift shop without paying any admission fee.

Otaru Traffic Museum

The Hokkaido Railroad Museum, located in Temiya, was renamed the Otaru Traffic Museum in April 1996 to include other transportation media as well. Temiya is the origin of railroads in Hokkaido. It displays not only trains but also other inland vehicles and ships. You can ride on a mini steam locomotive and experience simulation rides on other vehicles as well.
