There are many wild animals and birds in this part of Hokkaido. Among them are species found only here in Hokkaido. On the Sarobetsu Plains you can find rare species of a snake and an eagle and at the Ohnuma Pond you can find various species of birds including the swan. Along the coastline you can find squirrels, martens, badgers, rabbits, deer, and fox. Along the coastline of the Sea of Okhotsk you can see mother seals rearing their babies on the sea filled with drifting ice.
