Kiyosumi Park

Kiyosumi Garden/ Kiyosumi Park

This landscape garden used to be the villa of a feudal lord in the Yedo period (1603 - 1867), and was bought by the wealthy Iwasaki family, and was later donated to the municipal government. The garden mainly consists of a miniature lake and a garden in the shape of mountains and rivers using only dry stones and sand. The unusually shaped rocks and rare stones, collected from all over the country, create a very beautiful landscape. This was officially designated as an original place of scenic beauty of Tokyo in 1979, and also selected as one of the hundred best views of Tokyo. Next to the Kiyosumi Garden is the Kiyosumi Park. Families visit this large spacious area to play ball games.
