The city of Ryugasaki is known for its beautiful scenery and mild climate. The city has two faces, an old and a new.

The old face is its old sector, exemplified by old houses and long clay-walled mansions. The new face is its three new town projects: Tsukuba Industrial Town, the Sanuki Station (on the Joban Line), and the Ryugasaki Newtown projects. The first two are nearly complete. Construction of the Newtown began in 1977. The North Ryugasaki sector is already complete, and the building at the remaining Ryugasaki sector is underway at a high pitch. The North Ryugasaki sector is famous for its beautiful parks, walkways, schools, shopping malls, and fashionable residential area.
