Maizuru Tanabe-jo Castle Festival (May)

This is a festival tracing the historical and cultural aspects of the old castle town of Tanabe. There are demonstrations of marching warriors and traditional entertainment.

Minato Maizuru Chatta-matsuri Festival (July)

This festival is scheduled around Marine Day in July every year with local dancing to traditional Maizuru tunes as well as fireworks as the main events. 		Chatta-matsuri Festival

Aka-renga JAZZ LIVE (July)

This annual summer jazz festival is held on the outdoor stage, installed in the warehouse district near Maizuru Harbor. This year, they had Hino Motohiko, Anri Sugano, Kenny Barrel, and other nationally and internationally well-known musicians as guests.

Joya-no Agetaimatsu

Joya-no Agetaimatsu (August)

This unique festival is held at Amabiki-jinja Shrine every August 14, based on the legend of a huge serpent, which was created more than 400 years ago. In this energetic fire festival, the people throw small torch lights to light up the big 16-meter pine torch.
