Local Transportation
The best way to look around the city of Sakai is either to take a city cable car (Hankai Denki) or to rent a bicycle. It is convenient to use the cable car as the line connects the main sightseeing spots so that a tourist can get a feel of the town. However, since some places are a long walk from the station, it is better to rent a bicycle if you wish a time efficient tour. There are three rental shops in the city.
Cycle Center/ 072-243-3196 (10 min. walk from JR Hanwa line Mozu Station, in Daisen Park)
Rental Cycle Sakai-higashi/ 090-8653-8535 (2 min. walk from Sakai-higashi Station, in front of the City Hall north gate)
Sakai Station West exit Tourist Information Center/ 072-233-5258 (Nankai Honsen Sakai Station West Exit)
Each shop closes on Mondays (if Monday is a national holiday, the following day is closed instead). The office closes at 3 p.m., bicycles should be returned by 4:30 p.m.
